Quebec Government Reaches an Agreement with Generic Drugs manufacturers

The Government of Quebec announced this week that it has reached an agreement with the Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association to reduce the cost of generic drugs. The agreement, which is still confidential, will come into effect on October 1st and should generate savings of 1.5 billion$ over the next five years.

We are aware that several GPM participants may be wondering about the impact this agreement will have on them, as the agreement will affect both the public drug plan and private insurance plans. Although it is too early to know the implications, rest assured that our team remains on the lookout for possible consequences and will keep you informed when new information becomes available.
